Entrepreneur Angela M. Hutchinson is Selected to

Attend the Media Academy at Harvard University

Los Angeles, CA (January 12, 2011)   –  The Maynard Institute for Journalism Education (MIJE) in conjunction with Harvard's Neiman Foundation for Journalism has selected entrepreneur Angela M. Hutchinson to attend the Media Academy at Harvard University. Hutchinson was selected to participate due to her exemplary work in the media industry as a writer/editor and entreprenuer. This elite program has produced prominent alumni that have evolved into global media leaders. The 2011 Media Academy sessions take place in January and March on Harvard's campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Academy participants such as Hutchinson will have an opportunity to sharpen their leadership, entrepreneurial and management skills.

 

About the Academy

The Media Academy is a performance-driven immersion program in entrepreneurial leadership and management. Run in partnership with MIJE and the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University, the Academy has a track record of helping new media managers across all departments achieve success in competitive, evolving environments. Faculty includes top media leaders as well as professors from the Harvard Business School. About Angela M. Hutchinson

A Chicago native and creator of several literary works, Hutchinson is the author of the published children’s picture book, “Charm Kids,” and a comedic memoir, “BReaKiNG iNTo HoLLyWooD.” Upon graduating from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E. in Industrial and Operations Engineering, she earned a full scholarship from the Maynard Institute to obtain a certificate in Cross-Media Journalism at USC.  She has over 8 years of experience in media and entertainment. Hutchinson has worked for Warner Bros. Television, MGM and the Grammys.  She is a former Miss Teen Illinois Semi-Finalist and recipient of an International Poet of Merit award.  In October 2005, Hutchinson was elected as the first African American President of the Scriptwriters Network, since the organization was founded in 1986.  Currently, Hutchinson works as a freelance journalist and the editor of Valley Lawyer magazine, the official publication of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association.  Also, as founder of the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Breaking into Hollywood, Hutchinson is involved in various entertainment endeavors. She has been educating creative and business professionals in the entertainment industry since May 2005.  Hutchinson also remains engaged in her community and has served on several boards. She was appointed as a Los Angeles City Official and to the Advisory Committee for the Los Angeles County of Education's Regional Occupation Program for the arts. Hutchinson is also active in social media via LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter (@iamBiH), and her newly launched audio blog on Tumblr.
